I love football (as you can tell) but one particular time I found some great revelation in the game. I noticed how the guy with the ball (Position? *shruggin* LOL!) sometimes pivots and hesitates to find the hole in the line which will allow him to gain some ground in his quest to reach the goal line. As he runs, he’s calculating, responding (because he’s been in practice and knows the drill!) to the defense, and being mindful of what is going on around him to make the best moves.

Here is the revelation that I found in this is brief and simple:

1.) That is a a reminder to keep your eyes open and actively be aware of what’s going on around you. The opposing team wants what’s in your hand (#slain) and they are going to do everything that they can, whether it be fair or not, to make you fumble the ball, or block your path.

2.) Assess where you are and find the open doors of opportunity when they present themselves. When you find the hole, do not hesitate as it may close just as quickly as it opened. If you can’t find the hole, get a grip on your “ball”, tuck your head, get low, and plow right through what’s in front of you. Even if it’s a few inches…you have made progress!!

Opportunities in life come to those that are not only prepared, but fearless about taking the hit, and plowing forward to gain some ground.

Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up. You’re not the only ones plunged into these hard times. It’s the same with Christians all over the world. So keep a firm grip on the faith. The suffering won’t last forever. It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. He gets the last word; yes, he does.
