The hits the players endured in last nights game caught my attention. The runners grab the ball “knowing” that someone on the opposing team has the idea in his mind and passion in his heart to hit and/or drag them down to keep them from going forward. The wide receivers charge down the field, following their pre-designated path, and reach up to catch the ball “knowing” that within seconds there is a high probability that someone is going to clobber or blindside them from the back. The Quarterback hikes the ball “knowing” that those whom he loves and those that are looking out for him are prepared to take the hit so that he can launch his vision.
What does this say to me about life?
1. It says that in life, you have to be prepared to take some hits! They can come from any direction whether you have a plan or not (although, you will probably get hit more if you don’t have a plan, lol.)
2. You must learn to get low (pray, remain humble) like those football players and dig to get as far as you can. Keep fighting and don’t allow the opposition to stop your forward progress!
3. After you get knocked down….GET BACK UP, dust yourself off, get some insight from the huddle, and get back into position! That play is now OVER!
4. Finally… KNOW that with every play, you get closer to your GOAL!
You will take some hits, that’s inevitable. It’s what you do while you are being hit (attacked) and after you’ve been drug down to the ground that matters the most. You can not lay on the field in defeat crying about the hits!
And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.
